Welcome to Desert Point Kennel, and thank you for spending time with us.  We are proud to be devoted to the world’s best hunting dogs, the German Shorthaired Pointers.  German Shorthairs are exceptional dogs that excel in all that they are called upon to perform.  They are  the number one versatile hunting dog in the world.  If you’re looking for one dog that can do it all, the German Shorthair is for you.
The GSP is swift and strong with the ability to hunt all day.  When most other dogs are spent and have no more to offer, the GSP is just getting warmed up.  What dogs they are!  They can track like a hound, point like a pointer, and retrieve like a retriever.

Here at Desert Point Kennel we breed hunting dogs.  I hunt, and work with the dogs almost everyday.  The first seven months of 2010 found me hunting everyday except seven.  A rattlesnake bite stopped me for a few days.
A hunting dog should do what it is breed for.  We breed only dogs that have a natural retrieve, and point.  We are looking for dogs that have sweet, calm disputations, that love people.  I want a dog that wants to work with me.   Each and every dog must love water, and retrieve from water.  I want a dog that loves to hunt.  A dog that can tree a fox, coon, or cat.  One that will get in there and mix it up with a fox, coon, cat, or pig on the ground.  We try and breed to the few dogs that can really do it all.  Some dogs just stand out and can do it all. Those are the ones I want.
We would like to get to the point where all the puppies from a littler will meet these goals.  Because so much is asked for from these fine dogs it’s a task to get a complete package.  It often seems that when a dog excels in one area it often falls short in another.  What’s really a challenge is the ability to pick the very best from a litter for future use.
We started with, and continue to look for the very best German Shorthairs we can find, for our breeding program.
